Intensive Driving Courses • Effective: August 2026
This policy applies to all intensive course bookings with Team Driving Academy. Please read it carefully before booking. By paying your deposit or course fee, you are agreeing to these terms.
All intensive courses are secured with a £150 deposit. The deposit is deducted from the total course price. The remaining balance is due before your first lesson.
The deposit is refundable during the 14-day cooling-off period (see Section 2). After the cooling-off period has passed, or if you choose to start your course within the 14-day window, the deposit becomes non-refundable.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have 14 days from the date of purchase to cancel your booking and receive a full refund, including your deposit.
However, if you choose to start your course within the 14-day cooling-off period, you waive this right. By starting lessons within 14 days of booking, you agree that the cooling-off period no longer applies and the deposit becomes non-refundable.
If you wish to preserve your cooling-off period, you may request a start date that falls after the 14-day window.
If you need to cancel your entire course before it begins and you have not attended any sessions:

This section applies when you cancel without attending any sessions. If you have already started the course and attended at least one session, Section 4 applies instead.
Note: Where the 14-day cooling-off period in Section 2 overlaps with this section, your statutory cooling-off rights take priority. If you are still within the 14-day cooling-off period and have not started your course, you are entitled to a full refund including your deposit regardless of how close your start date is.

If you have started the course and attended at least one session but need to stop, a refund for unused hours will be calculated as follows:

The difference between Section 3 and Section 4: Section 3 covers situations where you cancel without ever starting — the full diary time has been blocked and cannot be recovered. Section 4 covers situations where you've started but need to stop — the remaining diary time can potentially be reallocated.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an individual session during your course, you must give a minimum of 48 hours' notice.
If something genuinely unavoidable comes up at short notice, get in touch as soon as you can and we'll try to work something out. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows will be treated as used sessions.
If TDA needs to cancel a session for any reason (illness, vehicle breakdown, emergency), every effort will be made to reschedule at no cost to you. If TDA is unable to deliver any part of your course, you will receive a full refund for any hours not provided.
The cost of your DVSA practical driving test has already been accounted for — TDA has reduced the course price by the value of the test fee so that you can book and pay for your own test directly with the DVSA at no extra cost to you.
Under current DVSA rules, only the learner can book, amend, or cancel their own practical test. You will book your test directly at gov.uk/book-driving-test and pay the DVSA fee at the time of booking. TDA will guide you through the entire process and help you find the earliest available date that works with your course.
If the DVSA cancels your test for any reason (examiner illness, test centre closure, etc.), TDA is not liable for the test fee or any lesson time affected. However, we will work with you to reschedule sessions around the new test date wherever possible.
If, in the professional judgement of your instructor, you are not at the required standard to safely take your practical driving test, you will be advised against taking it. This is for your safety and in your best interest.
The final decision on whether to proceed with the test remains with you. However, TDA may recommend additional lessons before your test date and will be transparent about your readiness.
Approved refunds will be processed within 14 working days of the cancellation being confirmed. Refunds will be returned via the same payment method used for the original transaction.
TDA understands that exceptional circumstances arise — serious illness, family emergencies, bereavement. In these situations, please get in touch and we will discuss your options. Every effort will be made to find a fair solution, whether that's rescheduling your course to a later date or arranging a refund outside of the standard terms.
Decisions on exceptional circumstances are made at TDA's discretion on a case-by-case basis.

When TDA blocks out days in the diary for your intensive course, that time is reserved exclusively for you. This policy is designed to be fair to both sides — you're protected if things change, and TDA is protected from losing committed time.
